The economic problem lies with the first bailout plan ever. We've been stuck since then. The time for it to end is now. Let it be what it's going to be. We will survive. There comes a point in time where bailouts...just aren't good enough anymore. Life's a bitch.
And, yeah, it's gonna suck. Big time. Let it be, though. Really, at some point you gotta stop juggling and just face the music. I don't like it any more than any of you..trust me. It hurts. But, what I'm saying is truth.
Oh, and hoarding...never good. Remember manna from heaven? Hoarding is bad.
Welcome to my world of chaos and laughter where we try to keep things in perspective.

Another Restroom Revelation...
Why bother getting towel racks? Seriously. They will just throw the towels right on the floor next to the towel racks. If I counted how many hours a day I spent...picking up towels...I tell ya, my talents are being wasted here.
I've bought hangers, you know like so you can hang your robe on it. I've bought plain towel racks and hung them at various heights in the bathrooms so that the shortest and tallest members of the family can each have a place to hang their towels. I've bought the circle hangers for hand towels only bigger for bigger towels so everyone would have their own place. To no avail. They all just wind up in a big pile on the floor in the general vicinity of the towel rack.
They will hang them over the shower curtain, however. But they won't hang them on a towel rack outside of a shower stall.
I think, instead of curtains, I am going to put some towel racks there. Sounds wierd, but they WILL hang their towels over the curtain. Except then the curtain rod isn't strong enough to hold up that much weight and so the battle rages on.

Remembering.
I know I'm a little late with this, but this year for Sept. 11th, I did something a little different, I suppose.
My tweens (can't call them little people anymore) were 3 and 4 respectively in 2001.
We have a habit of watching the news every morning. It's just what we do. They know what to wear because they know what the weather is like, they know what's going on in the world, ..sort of. That's where I come in.
Anyway, they were watching the news and they asked me what it was like. So, I went and dug up some old videos of the day and walked them through what I was doing at each moment. It was wierd. Really remembering.
With each video clip, I remember each and every thing I was doing. All the feelings, and the one that still lingers...pure d pissed. How dare they? How DARE they? The bastards. I will not rest until we find the ones responsible for this. I do not care how long it takes.
After it was all said and done, little dude says, "Oh...that's just really sad. Those mean old terrorists. We better get 'em." Now, he's good with Army boy reenlisting for three more years. (Can I get a big HELL YEAH?)
To them, it was even simple. You go get the people that did this. You don't stand and just quit. You don't. Especially not when the end of the fight is in sight. Come on.
That's like a race car driver pulling into victory lane a lap early, under caution, no less, eh?
How long did it take to win the Cold War? A LOOONG time. But we won and it was WORTH it. What happened to our pride in country? Where did it go? Where is our sense of community? Why can't we do it all? Why can't those in our service, do what they are doing and protect us..why can't the REST of us, benefiting from their service, why can't WE fix the problems within the border? I mean, I want them to come home to a nice place that they are proud of being from.
Is it just me, or have we noticed just how hypocritical the Democrats are? I'm just saying...I'm not trying to be mean or anything..but how is it that they spent soooooo much money on their campaign and talk about feeding the poor and housing the homeless. I just cannot wrap my mind around that, truthfully. I mean, I heard the grumblings about how we had heard nothing from McCain during the Democratic ..."spirited discussion"...and I thought that was brilliant, too. He wasn't spending a ton of money and they were the only people doing anything, so like moths to the flame, there went the press. And then to trump that with Palin. Ha!
I have had more thoughts on analytical posts, but I just don't have the time. My schedule is so full right now it isn't even funny. Slow season is over and now it's time to hump again. Funny, it didn't feel like slow season, but apparently it was. That's all good, though. Busy is ALWAYS good. Productive, always good. Momentum is good, too.
Maybe I'll get more done than I think and I'll be able to pull one or two more out before election day.

Boundaries..
All relationships are about boundaries. That's part of our job as parents..to teach our children what and when those boundaries are. It in no way ever stops, that I can see.
Kids have this mentality that...your stuff...is also their stuff. How they come to reason this I have no idea. Even after they get jobs, they still don't quite make the connection, they just learn the distinction that THEIR stuff, is their stuff alone but your stuff..is still their stuff.
And privileges...shoot. They think these..age things are just GOD given, that they don't have to earn them. So many people have looked at me wierd because I said I won't let my boys drive until they are 18. Boy, I should have categorized the eldest accidents, but to refresh, we are nine and counting. Army boy, not so many wrecks, but a few speeding tickets. Lucky is what he was. The next one, a couple of fender benders, much better. See, they learn from each other, too... The first two were 17. The last one was 19 and failed a driving test first. It was bogus..y'all Texans, that yield stuff you have on the interstates..you're the only state I know of that does it like that... Anyway, the next one is now taking driver school..but that sucker wrecked the damn golf cart this summer. Only kid to have done that, let me tell ya. I mean, had to have it towed home, wrecked it. Look out for that tree, wrecked it. Yeah, like I want him behind the wheel of a car.
Then there is...Dude, where the hell did my blender go? I mean, coming over to raid the fridge is one thing but taking whole appliances, that's stretching the boundaries a little far, I would say. What next the toaster? Nope...
And then there's the lawnmower. Hell, it was a spare, right? I think that was just given to him before it could be like that. Gas for the lawnmower...Dude, where's the gas can. Cleaning supplies, aspirin, first aid stuff, bug spray, trash bags...I feel like the local grocery store...but move back in? Oh HELL NO...we're too PROUD for that. At this point it would be cheaper, for crying out loud.
And then there's Dude, I didn't know you knew how to text. I knew you knew about computers and stuff, but I thought you didn't know about texting? WTF planet do they think we live on, anyway?
And then there's Dude, can I have some gas money? WTF???? It's not enough that the vehicle AND insurance are paid for while you have a little crisis? You want MORE money too? Out of your ever loving mind.
And, yes, I do react like that to them. Yes I do. Stone cold sober, too. They'd rather I did it drunk..it's funnier somehow. But, I do it stone cold sober, so they know I mean it. Means a battle, but hey...I'm good with that.
And we won't even get into the tweens who are both having a little tween crisis of their own. Battle of wills there..it's the right age. I am winning.

Let's Talk Economics
I was thinking about the plans of our two Presidential candidates, and I haven't gotten too far, honestly, what with all the constant interruptions and all.
Just going on basics...Obama plans to tax "big business" and those who have an income higher than a certain level. McCain plans to cut spending in the form of earmarked funds. As well as providing tax RELIEF for corporations and small businesses.
The facts on the economy are simple. The way it is now, small business is what bails out the economy every time. You get laid off and you know what you are doing? You just made a job for yourself and someone still is going to be doing yours. Anybody you then hire, you just created a job.
Taxing the crap out of small businesses will do quite a few things. First of all, small businesses will not be able to survive. Big businesses will simply lay people off, cut benefits, cut profitsharing, charge higher prices for their goods..(anybody else want to pay an extra dollar for milk?)and we will have high unemployment, more welfare, and no money to support it all.
I saw a lot of votes for "funding" of things come from Obama. Where is the money going to come from? How are the states going to be able to just come up with this money when the people that contribute into the kitty do not have jobs?
Seems to me that if you promote the growth of small business, then more jobs are created, more people paying into the system...while systematically cutting needless expenditures...gee, that almost makes sense.
Funding...that doesn't make sense. Taxing the shit out of the people who provide the jobs, make it harder to provide their OWN job...that does not make sense to me.

Choices
Ya know...All of us HAVE to grow older. It sucks.
But, NONE of us have to grow up.
Hear me, feel me.
But, NONE of us have to grow up.
Hear me, feel me.

The Choice Is Clear
I don't usually do political posts because politics just isn't my thing, for the most part. However, at this crucial moment in history, I want my views to be heard.
This point in history has made me very involved as a person. To me, after it's all been weighed and viewed, the choice became VERY clear for me.
Voting records into account, really, neither one of them is a liar. I expected, based on what I heard, to see what I saw. Obama is for spending. His ideals are not bad ones to have. He does want to feed the poor and take care of the sick. His voting record shows that. However, I also saw from the voting records that Obama just wants ...and hasn't a CLUE what is involved with making an ideal into a fact. Hey, we all want world peace and food for all and to be a nation of energy independence and all that jazz. Who doesn't? However, you cannot want those things and then vote "no" for every single solution put out there to take care of those things.
I think Guiliani was wrong on the 'present' votes. McCain has just as many for the same time frame. McCain just has more experience, so he had more votes to count. Neither one of them have been doing much voting for the last 18 mos. or so. Now, the fact that Obama only held his office for 4 years means that for just under HALF the time he was assigned to do a job, he was off trying to get another job. He didn't do his job for almost HALF the time. McCain, on the other hand has been doing his job for many years. He took the same 18 months off, but he had actually spent some time ..you know, doing his job for many years before he did that.
On to awards and accomplishments in other areas.
Awards:
John McCain: Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross, 1996 Taxpayer's Hero Award of The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste.
Barack Obama:
Best Spoken Word Album, *Grammy Award, 2006; Chairman's Award, National Association for the Advancement Colored People, 2005; 100 most influential people in the world, Time Magazine, 2005; 10 people who will change the world, New Statesman, 2005; Harold Blake Walker Award, Christopher House, 2005; Rock the Nation Award, Rock the Vote, 2005; Outstanding Legislator Award, Campaign for Better Health Care and Illinois Primary Health Care Association, 1998; Best Freshman Legislator Award, Independent Voters of Illinois, 1997; Monarch Award for Outstanding Public Service, 1994; 40 Under 40 Award, Crain's Chicago Business, 1993.
Ok. Silver Star..vs. Best Spoken Word Album ..does not even compare.
Obama won a GRAMMY? Get the hell out..for what? He has chosen the wrong occupation, in my opinion. While not qualified to be president of these United States, he is CLEARLY a very gifted actor.

I also think the organizations one chooses to associate one's name with and devote time to says a lot about an individual. I see a lot on McCain's list that he is involved with, every single American dang near out there, including the interests that Obama claims to represent. However, I don't see him involved in too many organizations that represent...'his' people, do you? How is he fighting for anybody but himself.
And on to another point..John McCain's resume is well published here. Did anybody else not know that Barack Obama claims his occupation as "lawyer"? REALLY..I said to myself. What has he done as a lawyer? Has he even seen the inside of a courtroom? Whoops..nope. He gave up law to become a community organizer and he is merely trying to take that up to the level of the president. They nailed that right on as well.
John McCain has been tested and no... he is not the most charismatic person there is, and I'll probably never really enjoy hearing him speak, but he's like a dog with a bone, I think. Once he makes up his mind, he is very consistant. There was one point in his speech that he finally won me over. When he was recounting the story we had heard for the fiftieth time already, and he said "and they broke me" ..the look in his eyes and the way he said what he said after that, I believe him. I believe, honestly, that his whole motive is to make amends for what he perceived he'd done wrong. Anybody that has ever met a Vietnam Vet has seen that look and knows what it means. This guy is for real. He's not doing this for any kind of glory and the way he has conducted himself proves that. I believe, he still carries that guilt with him and even if he's elected, he will carry that guilt to the grave, and never feel like he made it up to his country.
That is truly a guy I can get behind, and Sarah Palin, as well. I really hope that a bid for the Presidency is in her future. It was a BRILLIANT move on his part, to bring her on his team. Brilliant, I say.
We have a gifted actor vs. a skilled tactician. I'd like a skilled tactician, a good leader, someone who understands crisis. Can you imagine Obama the first time the batphone rings? Shit.
McCain has authored more books, too, BTW. Just for gravy on top. He's been more places, seen more things, done more things and his vice presidential nominee has more experience than Obama. That's a FACT. Obama has lots of experience ..doing nothing. He has lots of experience talking about what needs to be done, but no experience actually doing it. He has so little understanding of how the world really works that he doesn't even realize that he doesn't understand how the world really works. They are right, the quest for the office of the President of The United States, should NOT be a quest for personal discovery.
Giuliani is right, too. We HAVE to get this right. Vote for the guy who's been there and done that instead of the guy who just wants to organize others to be there and do that. THAT is what gets us in unwinnable wars.
The choice is clear.
*emphasis mine
