Flybys and such...

So, let me see if I have this straight. Some idiot decides to fly...Air Force One...around New York City for a photo..opportunity.

First of all, it is only Air Force One if the President is aboard. So, was it Air Force One or not?

Secondly, somebody failed their ORE. Maybe.

Maybe, the powers that be are manipulating the press to make certain members of the world believe we have learned nothing since 9/11. In so believing we are whipped, they will get bold and negligent and make mistakes.

You need a certain amount of people to believe the media in order to achieve what you are looking for. It's called sleight of hand.

We are not a superpower because we are stupid. A big thank you to our Seal team that make me proud to have served. Good job, fellas!

Anyway, the enemy reads our newspapers and whatnot as well. This is how they gauge things. If the masses are panicking, they think they won...they make more mistakes. They underestimate us. Therefore, we need all the pieces of the puzzle ..all that makes up our country ...we need it all to win. And win we will.

Somebody has the watch. Just like I know quite a few good men that did before, I know a few good men who have the watch right now. Those people will not let us down. If we are attacked again, we will avenge their deaths, no matter how long it takes.

Somebody in the real know knew that plane was going to be there and chose to withhold that information. I hope. Otherwise it should have been shot down. Again. I hope. Seems like that fighter pilot could have done it any time. Why was the fighter pilot there if it wasn't Air Force One?

Deciphering the real truth of things is tough. Bottom line, it was fucked up. A big hug to my New Yorker friends.

Party Season

And so it begins! I mean, it's been party season for a little while, but a little half hearted. We were waiting for Army boy to be here before we kicked it off hard.

I am ever so happy that today is going to be warm so I can cook some good food on the grill. I am also glad that it is Friday and that we have no obligations for the weekend, so we can just chill. I am sure that there is going to be a myriad of visitors in and out.

I'm pretty certain of their love for me, too. This morning was a prime example of just..how it is. And, I'm pretty good with how it is, too.

Anyway, I get up this morning, stumble downstairs to get my Dr. Pepper. No teeth in, pajamas on, no hair combed, smelling like Vick's vaporub...to run right into the Army boy and his company. And you know..they acted like I was the ray of sunshine that just lit up the whole world. Hugs abound, gifts are exchanged, and then the quiet conversation begins with the music low in the background.

Yeah, having a ton of people around all the time really makes it hard to keep up with housework, but if it just becomes a constant process, it begins to work. I'd rather have the people, personally. I'm glad that they love me despite my considerable flaws. I try to earn it. I'm glad that they feel like this is home.

That's rather what I was going for when I started on this parenting venture. I just didn't reckon on a few other things. Now that I know, though, I wouldn't change a thing.

Burnin' Rubber All The Way...

Ah, the drought is over! Isn't that wonderful news? I think so! First real drought I've went through as an adult. I'll be more prepared for the next one.

Little dude had a field trip to the aquarium and the Capitol Building. I love his enthusiasm. He was done with April Fool's yesterday, as a side note. FED up.

Anyway, I've gotten to know his teacher real well via email this year..*snicker* Every Friday, she sends me a list of his work that he hasn't completed and I make sure he has it by Monday. Easy Peasy..hell, I'm a veteran at making 10 year olds do homework. I need more of a challenge than that, now.

So, we had to go pick them up at school a little late that day, due to the field trip an all. This school sits right on top of a hill. It's been raining. The truck was in use so all I had was the Iroc. That normally wouldn't be a problem except..woo hoo...the drought is over, right?

So, there's a line of cars stacked up and I ease on in and get my place in line. Except for some reason the line got stacked up and did not move when I was halfway up it. Y'all are with me so far, right? Ok, now I don't drive automatic transmissions. I like to feel like I have total control. This car is a bit of a beast, too.

So, there I am, halfway up the hill...and some chick with a BRAND NEW Mercedes pulls right up on my bumper. I let it roll half an inch down and waved her on by. The next guy followed her, too..seeing the predicament I was in.

I had two choices..roll backwards halfway down the hill, nice and easy like and just go around to the front door..or...wait for the traffic jam to clear and make it in one shot.

I had enough time to fully contemplate both choices, and I chose the latter. I burned rubber all the way up there. I love that car..it goes EXACTLY where I tell it to go. Pinpoint precision, that machine. Tight is the racing term.

I swear, I got a standing ovation. I mean, there's little entertainment around here, so hey, there was people watching to see what I was gonna do. They gave me lots of room, too.

So, I pull up and ask for Little Dude, and his teacher was all..Oh, so YOU'RE his mother, thank you so much...all enthusiastic and then she starts putting it all together as the smell of burnt rubber reached her nostrils. She just stopped mid-sentence and started walking the car down..jaw all apop.

Little Dude comes bounding out the doors and down the sidewalk like only he can.

"Suuuuuhweeeet, Mom", says he, his eyes all aglow with admiration and love and gratitude for doing something COOL in front of his friends.
