Let's get this gay marriage discussion out of the way. To me, it's simple....if the ministers and pastors don't want to perform the ceremony because they feel it's against their religion....fine. Let gay people do what others do that can't or won't be married by religious clergy. Go to the justice of the peace.
Separation of church and state is very applicable in this particular instance, I do believe.
How does all this tie in together?
Well, believe it or not, I have to go to a funeral here shortly. I hate funerals. Birthdays are much more fun.
Anyway, the person in question was gay and had been with his partner for more than 60 years. His partner is now all kinds of worried about financial affairs and the ability to pay for things. I am sure this is a needless worry, but it's a worry that could be taken care of with a simple piece of paper.
How stupid is this? For the love of all that is holy, there are waaaay more important things we should be worrying about as a country. I just know there is.
Anyhoo, I'm hoping there will be a little fun after this whole funeral evolution.
I am so sick of unpacking boxes and whatnot. I am ready for some pure unadulterated fun. Sure hope there's a pool at the hotel.
Y'all have a great weekend!
Welcome to my world of chaos and laughter where we try to keep things in perspective.

Wednesday Morning Blues
Ok, I am hungover this morning and will probably go back to bed to nurse my headache once I get done posting this.
Trying to get on a better schedule for writing again. There for a few years it was a daily thing.
Then, things went wrong as they are wont to do and I didn't really feel like blogging about it.
Then there comes the fact that family finds your blog and your not sure what to write anymore because you might offend someone.
You know, shit happens.
Plus, I did kick around the idea for awhile that maybe I would quit blogging.
It's weird, but every time I do that, I get a new person that asks me to keep writing. That's usually all it takes, hahaha!
Oh yeah, and then along came Facebook, too.
Anyway, I guess I don't have too much to say right this moment. It's hard to write and hold your head at the same time.
I'll be back later with a story about something, I'm sure. Until then, y'all have a great day!

Socialization
Ah, sitting here playing with my new toy. Woo Hoo! I love my new laptop. It does everything I want it to and more.
In the immortal words of RickyBobby.."I wanna go fast!" And that includes my computer too.
These back roads out here in East Texas were just waiting for us and our hot rods. The speed limit on most of the roads I drive every day is 70. 60 is the slowest unless you're in town. When you're in town, you want to be going slow, because there's so much cool stuff to look at.
Apparently, the grocery store is where it's happening. I have found out more things shopping at the grocery store. I talked about helping people choose particular brands the one day. Last week, it was the block party in town. A couple of the proprietors of the local establishments were there getting some emergency supplies.
One of our bag boys at the grocery store has all kinds of entertainment lined up. He's trying to put this town on the map as far as music goes. He and my young two were talking one day. They load your groceries in your car at this grocery store. Which is cool sort of.
Did you know, if you tip your waiter when you go to the Sonic, you get much better food. I'm not sure if your supposed to tip the grocery loaders, though. I'll have to ask.
Then there's the Farmer's Market on Saturdays. I went looking for fresh vegetables but what I found was everything but. I found my local herbalist, as well as plenty of wine to last a week or two. I'm still trying to figure out how that works since I live in a dry county, but hey, who am I to complain. They let you taste it before you buy it and there's nothing like supporting your local small businesses. That's really the only thing you can do to help the economy. It starts at home
Anyway, the point is, is that I am socializing, in my own way.
The Senior Chief is a much more social person than I am. I pretty much don't like people. I think over the years we have established this to be a fact.
Another little tidbit is that if you hang out with me long enough you find out that my natural resting state is some form of bitch. It's all a matter of degrees. To say that I am deeply in touch with my inner bitch is almost an understatement.
Hey, it's not personal..it's just who I am.
The Senior Chief is the nice one of the two of us. He thinks the best of everybody and genuinely likes people. He really does. It's something I appreciate in him. He is who he is, as well.
He keeps telling me that I need to do this and that...join this and that so I'll get socialization. Sigh. No, I actually don't. Like I said, I socialize in my own way. I think I'm going to have to draw the line at the top two for awhile. Church and The American Legion. That is a whole other story in and of itself.
I've about reached my limit on how much socialization I'd like to have in my life. When there's too much having to deal with people, my bitch meter goes through the roof.
I like being in the back yard hanging out with the trees. I have some awesome mimosa trees that are just gorgeous right now. I used to have a cat I hung out with but something happened to her. I miss her a lot. We thought she was good, but apparently she wasn't. I am animal free at this point in my life and I'm not in a hurry to rectify it.
The Senior Chief and I have a lot of things to catch up on. Things we gave up for and because we had 6 kids. These other kids have different extended family in their lives which provides a little balance for us. They are going to camp for a week in June and it looks like The Senior Chief and I can take a trip. Now that's the kind of socialization I'm looking for right now.
I tell you what, life sure is tough. Ha! Ha!
